Established in 1987, Katihar Medical College aimed at providing medical education to the students who don’t have enough facilities and infrastructure in the region of Kosi and especially 2 divisions- Purnia and Saharsa. The college was established and funded by the Al-Karim Education Trust, Patna. Dr Ahmad Ashfaque Karim is a social worker and politician who is the founder and owner of Al-Karim Education Trust, Patna. The College is recognized by the Medical Council of India with a permissible student intake capacity of 150 seats in MBBS course.
